Aims and objectives

This unit provides students with further opportunity to expand their directorial skills through the development of a Major Project. Students will be encouraged to further develop and nurture projects within the group dynamic as if professionally employed in the film and television industry.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Develop a director’s statement, shot-list, visualisation folio and ancillary production material reflecting specialisation for a Major Research Project
2. Differentiate in film and television language the direction of a narrative, documentary or animated film, television pilot or promo, or equivalent production commensurate with the final Major Project
3. Apply the skills of directing and visualisation to the development of the Major Project
4. Prepare and deliver a pitch to sell ideas through the development of a proposal, visual folios, design portfolios, shot list and ancillary written materials
5. Apply a professional level of preparation in the development of directorial approach and design and planning for production workflows
