Aims and objectives

This unit aims to develop professional skills in relation to the practice of interior architecture with a particular emphasis on marketing and entrepreneurship. Specifically, the unit will develop students' understanding of business identity issues as they relate to interior architecture, professional communication – both verbal and written – and portfolio preparation and presentation skills.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Define a business identity for an interior architectural practice including mode-of-practice strategic planning and competitor analysis
2. Compose and deliver professional written, visual and verbal presentations appropriate to different stakeholder expectations and audiences
3. Design and produce a professional portfolio based on an understanding of business identity and audience expectations
4. Evaluate new and emerging professional issues within interior architectural practice
