Aims and objectives

This unit introduces students to the fundamental principles and basic techniques required for interaction design for screens including mobile phone and tablet programming and app development. Students will explore the potential of multi-touch user interaction and build their own applications using a range of programming skills and app development tools.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Use language and terminology specific to screen based and tablet app development in supporting project material.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of theory, concepts and programming aptitude using digital tools for screen based interaction and app development.
3. Apply mobile technology design principles for user interface, programming flow, memory and performance management.
4. Integrate and apply fundamental interaction principles and techniques specific to mobile computing such as multi- touch screen, camera, gyroscope, GPS and audio forms.
5. Critically evaluate, plan and research professional concepts of digital workflow for mobile and tablet technology apps.
