Aims and objectives

This unit equips students with professional practice in design innovation, by tackling a real-life project with a higher level of complexity than those faced in previous design innovation units, thereby increasing their creative confidence. The unit aims to expand students’ client, project and team management skills, as well as develop creative leadership abilities.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Reflect on design innovation principles and processes and decide how to apply them to solve complex problems.
2. Lead creative processes and activities.
3. Plan and manage a design innovation project.
4. Collaborate in an effective and organised manner within a design innovation team and with external contacts.
5. Apply analytic and creative thinking processes, proficiently alternating between the two throughout a design innovation project.
6. Devise a meaningful redefinition of a complex-problem, through design innovation research.
