Aims and objectives

This unit equips students for professional practice in design innovation, by tackling a real-life project with a higher level of complexity than those faced in previous design innovation units, thereby increasing their creative confidence. This Capstone 2 unit intends to consolidate students’ mastery of the process of designing solution concepts that effectively respond to a redefined problem. In doing so, expanding students’ abilities in foresight, conceptualisation, documentation, and storytelling.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Apply design innovation processes, methods and techniques to a professional standard.
2. Create future scenarios of the context of a problem.
3. Define a vision of the solution to a problem, based on future scenarios previously created.
4. Design detailed solution-concepts that effectively respond to pre-defined visions and scenarios of the future context of a problem.
5. Produce professional documentation of a design innovation process and the proposed solution to a problem.
6. Explain design innovation solution(s) using succinct visual storytelling
