Aims and objectives

In this unit students will engage in a diverse variety of national and international industry-driven project briefs. This unit aims to allow students to participate in commercial and complex design challenges that could comprise client briefs, engaging in competitions or awards, and portfolio and presentation projects. These projects will provide the opportunity for students to connect with and create professional networks and expose students to the rigour of processes undertaken in the design industry. The number of projects will be determined by the supervisor, based on the length and detail of individual or group projects.

2. Critically analyse a design problem and establish relevant methods for resolving any problems innovatively and appropriately.
3. Evaluate the capacity of solutions to meet and promote standards of design, such as sustainability, business and creative quality.
4. Develop solutions incorporating evidence and justification for decisions, and present to an audience of industry specialists, clients, peers.
5. Prepare projects to given briefs, including prototypes, reports, presentations and final production as required.
