Aims and objectives

This unit aims to introduce students to the basic principles of drawing and imaging for narrative and storyboards. Students are encouraged to experiment and to explore within the drawing medium and to develop skills and techniques for creating pre-visualisation material for motion sequences, including motion graphics, video post-post production, user centred scenarios, film, animation and other narrative productions.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Transfer key story and narrative elements into a series of visual images.
2. Apply observation skills and drawing with control, confidence and continuity to an illustrated project.
3. Apply systematic visual planning for motion sequence, video, film & animation productions to a series of visual images.
4. Apply principles of design such as balance, harmony and dominance, to a composition.
5. Apply a variety of drawing materials, techniques, styles, and applications to illustrated projects.
6. Produce pre-visualisations for narrative, motion sequence, motion graphics, video post-production, film and animation productions
