Aims and objectives

At the conclusion of this unit students should have a good understanding of the history and future of air traffic management. Additionally they should understand the human factors issues as they can be applied to the domain of air traffic management

Unit Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

1. Describe the changing nature of air traffic management operations in recent years
2. Determine and describe specific human factors areas relevant to air traffic management
3. Identify human factors issues in air traffic management and critically analyse how they have changed with the introduction of FANS technology
4. Evaluate methodologies for the assessment of HF issues in air traffic management
5. Identify and critically evaluate methods of monitoring and managing HF issues at both the operational level and organisational level
6. Evaluate the role of training in HF to facilitate safe operation in air traffic management
7. Demonstrate through creative and informed individual written communications the application of analysis and theory to current practices and developments in Air Traffic Management
