Aims and objectives

This unit further develops an understanding of the application of legal processes essential to good management techniques. It brings an awareness of professional legal responsibility and the cost of administrative negligence.
After successfully completing this unit, students will be able to:
1. Critically analyse the key concepts of Criminal and Administrative law applicable to environmental health practice
2. Evaluate the range of options available when dealing with non-compliance, including exploring cultural barriers
3. Contrast the legislation and legal processes applicable to environmental health practice
4. Demonstrate skills in initiating prosecution proceedings and undertaking court processes
