This unit will promote an understanding of the nature, purposes and various approaches and contexts for evaluation within public and environmental health, community health and health promotion settings.
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Articulate the purposes and scope of evaluation practice in a range of health settings
2. Select appropriate evaluation designs and methods to answer evaluation questions and purposes
3. Discuss the strengths and limitations of a range of evaluation approaches, data collection methods and tools for evaluation in relation to various traditional and contemporary public health evaluation contexts
4. Critically evaluate a range of evaluations using common performance indicators and relevant public and environmental health and health promotion theories and principles
