BCA10011 Ensemble and Foundation Studies in Circus Arts

Aims and objectives

In this unit students will focus on developing their ensemble and intermediate level supporting technical skills. Students will also advance their understanding and application of biomechanics, anatomy and physiology. Students deepen their understanding of injury prevention and rehabilitation for elite level circus performers. They also practice appropriate safety procedures and maintain equipment required for their training.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Orally critique and perform an ensemble routine.
2. Perform underpinning technical and safety skills at the intermediate level.
3. Investigate and summarise the impact of physiological management in specialisations.
4. Apply principles of, rehabilitation, anatomy and physiology to physical development practices.
5. Critically analyse the anatomical and biomechanical processes as they relate to their specialisation/s.
