Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Demonstrate cognitive and technical skills to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex spatial information and problems, and to perform critical analysis and synthesis
  • Use relevant technical tools for data collection, analysis and mapping, and have knowledge of quantitative methods, spatial mapping, relevant digital software, and geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Identify problems and devise ways to investigate and solve these problems drawing on data and research- based evidence that is integrated into their design process
  • Translate data between multiple digital analysis and design platforms including geographic information systems (GIS), computer aided design (CAD), city information modelling (CIM) and building information modelling (BIM)
  • Use knowledge-capture approaches and related technical skills
  • Gather, analyse and communicate qualitative and quantitative data relevant to different design circumstances including global trends and emerging design issues, census and survey data
