Aims and objectives

Aim

In this unit you will explore how to integrate good online teaching practice into face to face, blended and online environments through a critical approach to educational technology. You will acquire online learning design skills and apply them to develop engaging learning activities, assessment tasks and feedback methods that effectively promote student learning and engagement. You will refine your ability to be an effective member of a learning community and to encourage student peer interactions.


  
Unit Learning Outcomes
 
1. Integrate online learning and teaching activities into curricula for a diverse range of environments, from those with a significant on-campus component to those fully online.
2. Sustain and modify an online learning environment in order to meet many of the needs, wants and expectations of students.
3. Design online environments that encourage student engagement through the provision of a diverse range of opportunities, including group work, discussions, e-assessment and feedback, that utilise the affordances of digital approaches.
4. Demonstrate the capacity to engage in online communities that involve synchronous and asynchronous discussions and peer review.
5. Practice and apply a critical approach to digital technology integration in order to make a positive difference in learning and teaching.

This elective unit will provide participants with the opportunity to learn and apply models and processes for the design and development of effective approaches to technology enhanced learning and teaching.

In this unit you will explore how to integrate good online teaching practice into face to face, blended and online environments through a critical approach to educational technology. You will acquire online learning design skills and apply them to develop engaging learning activities, assessment tasks and feedback methods that effectively promote student learning and engagement. You will refine your ability to be an effective member of a learning community and to encourage student peer interactions.  Two of the four assessments are individual.  The remaining two assessments each give you the choice of completing it as a pair of individually.
