Aims and objectives

This capstone unit enables a holistic approach to the application of a design strategy to a real or simulated problem. This unit integrates and builds on the units previously completed. The aim of the unit is for students to apply the knowledge and skills necessary for establishing and managing a design strategy that assures the long-term viability and success of a solution to a specific business, social or design problem. Students will develop innovative design strategies to create new and sustainable solutions that contribute positively to the purpose of their client or chosen organisation
 
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate and apply current practices and models in design strategy
2. Integrate advanced sustainability and innovation frameworks and design research methodologies into design projects
3. Apply strategic design practice models to industry-based projects in complex settings
4. Communicate solutions to complex design problems through concise, coherent and well-structured documentation, designed outcomes, presentations and stakeholder feedback
