Aims and objectives

This unit will facilitate the students to demonstrate the ability to implement multi-user database application by employing relevant database design and modelling tools and techniques. In addition to relational database management systems, students will also get exposure to non-relational database management concepts that deal with big data. The unit also deals with effective communication and the team work that requires increased awareness and understanding of ethical and professional behaviours in an organisational context.
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1 Apply design skills to build and implement a database application for a medium scale project brief.
2 Demonstrate ability to manage a software development project considering the time, scope and quality constraints
3 Demonstrate an understanding of techniques to integrate structured data with unstructured data within a database application environment.
4 Demonstrate evidence of self-reliance using project management skills with an ability to communicate effectively as an effective leader or member of a diverse team
