Aims and objectives

This unit aims to provide students teams with the opportunity to apply critical thinking to solve research problems provided by external partners, under supervision of academic staff. Various design innovation strategies and research methods will inform design solutions developed through interdisciplinary collaboration. Students are expected to operate with high levels of self-direction, personal responsibility and commitment to inclusive teamwork philosophies. justify

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Justify theoretical concepts and research methods relevant to understand, re-frame and inform creative problem solving for a complex problem.
2. Synthesise technical, human and economic factors into design solutions that are investigated through prototypes.
3. Foster an innovation culture through inclusive decision making, open mind-set and empathetic approaches to collaboration activities.
4. Produce detailed design solutions and critique the value in response to a research question.
5. Validate effectiveness of design solutions to application context.
6. Rationalise and implement effective collaboration strategies.
7. Critique and engage relevant stakeholder management techniques.
