Aims and objectives

The unit aims to develop technical operating skills useful for all sectors of the Australian and international radio industries and enable students to critically evaluate broadcasting practices in Australia primarily but also overseas. Finally, the unit will allow students to begin to develop creative and entrepreneurial approaches to creating radio products.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of broadcasting in various radio formats to establish and consolidate basic radio broadcasting skills.
2. Present, discuss and critically evaluate broadcasting practices in the Australian radio industry.
3. Demonstrate advanced vocal presentation, indicating ability to relate to an audience and operational proficiency.
4. Produce industry standard radio programs with basic format elements of station programming, as well as live presentation of information and music.
