The Bachelor of Aviation (Honours) course is designed to provide preparation for postgraduate study with a focus on developing research attributes, to enable graduates to undertake a higher degree by research. The Bachelor of Aviation (Honours) degree is undertaken as an additional year following the three-year Bachelor of Aviation or Bachelor of Aviation (Management) degree, or four-year Bachelor of Aviation / Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Aviation (Management) / Bachelor of Business double degrees.

International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Course structure
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Aviation (Honours) requires students to complete units of study to the value of 100 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

- Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
- Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
- One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Course learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- demonstrate coherent and advanced knowledge of aviation
- plan and generate an individual professionally-relevant scholarly research project with some independence, as preparation for research higher degrees
- acquire knowledge of research principles and methods, and apply technical research skills employing critical thinking and judgement in developing new understanding in professional aviation practice
- demonstrate advanced oral and written communication skills to a variety of audiences
- employ an entrepreneurial approach in contributing to research and development in professional aviation practice.
