Learn about the role of games in contemporary society and how games are developing as a cultural industry. Undertake a range of projects focusing on analog and digital games, and develop practical and creative research and communication skills in a games lab environment. The Bachelor of Media and Communication (Professional) is designed to prepare you for a variety of roles in the dynamic and ever-changing industries associated with media and communication.
The degree takes a strategic approach to media and communication and links theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to operate effectively in diverse settings within the industry.
All our bachelor degrees include a guaranteed Work Integrated Learning opportunity, which could be a placement, internship or industry-linked project. This Professional Degree includes a mandatory 12-month paid work placement. You'll benefit from Swinburne’s unique industry partnerships, gain invaluable full-time work experience and earn credit towards your degree. In your final year, you'll also have the opportunity to apply your learning in a professionally focused, industry-linked project relevant to your major study area.
Graduates will be well qualified for roles in settings such as agencies, not-for-profits, government departments, small business and large corporate organisations.

I’ve had amazing internships with incredible companies. I’m working in an industry placement as a Social Media Response Specialist at Optus. I’ve been able to use the skills learnt in my major, and have worked with the Digital Content team to create content for the Optus website.
