The Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Media and Communication will equip students with a comprehensive set of skills, knowledge and attributes to effectively promote health messages, products and innovations to a wide range of audiences.
You'll explore Australian and international health challenges and examine the physical, psychological and social aspects of health in a variety of settings.
You'll also gain knowledge about how the media is evolving through an examination of issues such as diversity, the influence of social networking, data, ownership and privacy, automated media and the digital economy.
Work Integrated Learning is a guaranteed part of all our bachelor degrees. In this double degree, you’ll work on industry-linked projects relevant to your major areas of study. For example, in the Health Sciences Project (HEA30001), you'll work on a project which addresses a current industry challenge. And in units Digital Marketing Project 1 and 2 (DIG30001 and DIG30002) you'll work in teams on a significant digital advertising or marketing project.
Selected major: Neuroscience
This major links biology and physiology with psychophysiology and neuroimaging — and we’re the only uni in Australia that offers our research students single-site access to cutting-edge MRI and MEG technologies. You’ll learn to interpret the data generated by these machines to identify healthy brains, brain disorders and diseases of the central nervous system.
Newer topics like Developmental and Molecular Neuroscience give you a more holistic understanding of contemporary neuroscience along with Neuropsychopharmacology, which connects you with our Centre for Human Psychopharmacology.
Many graduates have gone on to neuroscience careers in clinical neurophysiology and sleep labs or entered research (Melbourne is a world-leader) with Swinburne, The Florey Institute, Melbourne Brain Centre, Bionics Institute, Centre for Neural Engineering and CERA.
Selected major: Games and Interactivity
Learn about the role of games in contemporary society and how games are developing as a cultural industry. Undertake a range of projects focusing on analog and digital games, and develop practical and creative research and communication skills in a games lab environment. Become equipped with the skills needed to work in the rapidly evolving games industry as well as the broader digital media sector.
