Selected major: Management
In this major you’ll develop the skills to manage yourself, organise and lead others, evaluate current situations, and make creative and well-informed decisions.
Learn about the role of management in business and discover how the use of key resources must be strategically planned, effectively deployed, monitored and controlled to meet strategic business objectives including business ethics and sustainability goals.
As preparation for contemporary management roles, you’ll learn to analyse and work through real business issues and receive advice from practising professionals.
Today’s business environment moves fast and is likely to change even faster in the decades ahead. To keep up with and even overtake your competition in the sector, consider the substantial benefits of Swinburne’s unique Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Applied Innovation double degree.
You’ll gain the core knowledge and skills essential to business management and operations in the twenty first century. Choose from a range of business majors including accounting, entrepreneurship, business analytics and analysis, logistics and supply chain management, human resource management, marketing and more. Combine your learning through three integrated, multidisciplinary final year units to emerge a true strategic and creative thinker, armed with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to operate effectively in diverse settings such as not-for-profits, government, small businesses and corporate organisations.
But your learning won’t end there. Applied innovation develops in-demand workforce skills such as interdisciplinary collaboration, creativity and complex problem-solving, persistence, curiosity and initiative, in real-world contexts. You’ll apply innovation toolkits, prototype solutions and participate in challenges, such as innovation sprints and interdisciplinary projects, including activities inspired by your passions and interests.
As an innovator, you’ll be ready to conceive, develop and deliver transformative projects and adapt to uncertain and changing contexts to secure or create fulfilling employment opportunities, with a portfolio of experience to back it up.
