The Master of Arts (Media and Communications) is designed to provide a theoretical base as well as a portfolio of skills applicable to a range of media activities. It focuses on practical learning and provides workplace experience through both placements (domestic students only) and developing projects for real clients. The program is suitable for students interested in working in media-related industries, or students already working in the media who wish to enhance their expertise. Students can choose to focus on studies in journalism, digital content production or media studies.

Course description
These programs have been designed to provide both a theoretical base and a portfolio of skills applicable to a wide range of media activities. They are aimed at developing the skills of those interested in working in media-related industries and enhancing the expertise of those already working in the media.
International students in Australia who hold student visas are required to study full-time and on campus. Courses that are taught entirely online are only available to international students studying outside Australia or those in Australia who are not on a student visa. Online courses are not available to international students in Australia who hold a student visa.

Prerequisites
- A recognised three year bachelor degree with a credit average or
- A recognised undergraduate degree with less than a credit average but evidence of five years or more continuous employment in a media or communications field or
- A recognised AQF Level 8 qualification in a cognate area
Advanced standing
On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Arts (Media and Communications), students may be eligible to progress to the Master of Arts (Media and Communications) and may be given full credit for the units completed towards the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Arts (Media and Communications).
