Swinburne's Graduate Diploma of Aviation prepares you for aviation management and leadership roles with a focus on aviation safety behaviours. This aviation human factors training program is designed specifically for personnel currently involved in aviation looking to upgrade their skills in human factors in aviation management at a tertiary level.
Build on your understanding of human factors in aviation accidents and what the emerging issues and challenges facing the aviation industry are. Explore safety in operational teams and how to adopt effective communication and teamwork strategies. Identify complexity and provide aviation safety reporting and innovative solutions within a variety of industry scenarios.
Completion of this postgraduate course could lay foundations for further study or lead to roles in aviation management, such as airline or airport manager, flight or ground operator, and aviation safety authority. In addition, you will have skills that can be applied across a range of other resilient organisations and industries, including transport, supply chain and health.

The Graduate Diploma of Aviation consists of 100 credit points. Units normally carry 12.5 credit points. A standard annual full-time load comprises 100 credit points and a part-time load comprises 50 credit points. The volume of learning of the Graduate Diploma of Aviation is typically 1 year.
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Diploma of Aviation award is 50 credit points (normally 4 units), this is based on exit award requirements of 100 credit points.

How do I pay my fees?
FEE-HELP is a loan given to eligible full-fee paying higher education students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees. The Commonwealth Government pays the amount of the loan directly to Swinburne.
HECS-HELP is a loan and discount scheme available to eligible students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place. A HECS-HELP loan can cover all or part of the student contribution amount.
Entry requirements
- A bachelor degree (or higher award) in a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent; OR
- A recognised bachelor degree (Honours) in any of the following disciplines: Aviation, Engineering, Business, Economics, Management, Law, Marketing, Science, Technology, Psychology or Social Science; OR
- Completion of the Graduate Certificate of Aviation.
