Aims and objectives
- Advanced and general knowledge of the theories and practice of couple counselling across key discipline and/or methodological domains, including ethical and social issues, general counselling skills, and some of the core principles, techniques and evidence-based models used when working with couples
- Knowledge of the key issues, theoretical concepts, and evidence-based practice relevant to couple counselling in Australia and global contexts
- The capacity to reflect on learning, and to take responsibility and accountability for personal development in the context of couple counselling and its practice
- The capacity to use independent judgement and to apply contemporary literature and research relevant to couple counselling to novel or new situations in practice, for example in role plays
- The capacity to evaluate and articulate key issues, client/counsellor needs and a range of perspectives in relation to the practice of couple counselling

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma and Master of Social Science (Couple Counselling) can apply for membership of the Australian Association of Relationship Counsellors (AARC).
