Course description
The Diploma of Hospitality and Event Management prepares students for a successful career in the hospitality and event management industries. The course consists of eight units over three fourteen-week teaching periods and is designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the basis of event management and hospitality management principles and will enable students the opportunity to develop valuable skills in the hospitality industry. Students will be exposed to subjects from hospitality and project management, and basic financial and designing skills to apply in this growing industry.

Entry requirements
One of:
- Successful completion of an Australian accredited Certificate IV in Hospitality or equivalent
- Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification. VCE Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 20 in any English (except EAL) or 25 in English as Alternate Language (EAL) or equivalent
- An approved preparatory program in hospitality
English language requirements
- IELTS (Academic Module): Overall 5.5 with no individual band below 5
- TOEFL iBT minimum score 65 (no individual band less than 15)
- Swinburne University's ELICOS program: English for Academic Purposes Certificate EAP4 Upper Intermediate, with overall 65% and all skills 60% or above
