Maximising Effective Social Investment for Traditional Owner Trusts

For the past two decades Rio Tinto has been entering into agreements with Traditional Owner groups across its Pilbara iron ore footprint. Mining royalties are paid into Benefits Management Structures (BMS), which can be managed either by professional trustees or Traditional Owner Trustee companies. This project aims to identify options for Traditional Owner Corporations and their members to maximize the positive social impacts of expenditure from Traditional Owner Trusts, both in the present and for future generations.
