Feb 2015 – Oct 2018. Research Scientist, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. I worked as the only Chief Investor (CI) of a project funded by German Research Foundation (DFG), which is corresponding to the Australian Research Council (ARC) in Australia.
Oct 2018 – Present. DECRA Research Fellow, Swinburne University of Technology. Now, I am working on my DECAR project funded by ARC in 2017. In this project, a novel methods for 3D metal printing is proposed. The fact hindering the application of electrodeposition for 3D metal printing is the incapacity of site-selective control of the deposition area, a problem that has been conquered by this project. Insulating self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) which can hinder the electrodeposition is used as the mask and laser beam with suitable wavelength and power density is used to site-selectively remove the insulating SAM and trigger the in situ electrodeposition. Since this project was started only a few months ago, more efforts will be made to optimise this 3D metal printing technique.
