Dr Joanna McIntyre is a Lecturer in Media Studies and the Course Director of the Bachelor or Media and Communication. She is the co-editor of the collection Gender and Australian Celebrity Culture (Routledge, 2021) and the author of Transgender Celebrity (Routledge, forthcoming). Dr McIntyre has also published more than a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Her research involves a cutting-edge combination of media studies, trans* studies, celebrity studies, and queer theory. She has presented research at over 25 academic conferences, including IAMCR and Celebrity Studies Journal Conferences, and organised three international conferences.
