Dr. Hongjian Du is a lecturer in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology. He received his BEng and PhD from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and National University of Singapore, respectively.
Hongjian looks into innovative approaches to develop sustainable and high performance materials to aid for modern construction. He specializes in characterizing microstructures and durablity of cement-based materials. He has been participating in some projects covering a wide range of topics including recycling of solid waste, supplementary cementitious materials, smart materials, graphene-cement nanocomposites, bio-inspired protective technology, etc. He also works on characterizing the structural performance of such innovative materials for their implementation.
Hongjian is willing to build collaboration with academia, industry and government to solve challenges facing construction industry and the society.
