
Dr Emma Fisher
Biography
Emma Fisher is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Design and Architecture (SoDA) at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne. Since 2004, Emma has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate levels of higher education at Swinburne and RMIT Universities across a wide variety of design subjects, and been program director at postgraduate level. Emma completed her PhD at Swinburne in 2015 via her study of practitioners’ research engagement in the Australian Communication Design profession. Emma holds over 24 years of experience working in communication design practice on local and international projects, and is currently a partner and communication designer in industry. Emma’s research interests include design practitioners’ research engagement, evidence-based design, portfolio literacy and employability skills, and professional design practice, and she reviews papers about these areas for several peer-reviewed design journals.
