Dr Drew Williamson
I am a practising, registered architect. Over the last twenty years, the focus of my study, research and practice has been on delivering innovative architecture, using contemporary tools, skills and professional expertise to put design back at the heart of thinking about the built environment and to put theory into practice.
My practice-based research is concerned with realising innovative architecture, with a particular focus on how digital design techniques and manufacturing processes can be used to minimise risk and uncertainty, facilitating non-standard outcomes. My research and teaching examine the transformative effects and contributory role that digital technology can have on the practice of architecture and develops and explores experimental design strategies for a creative and innovative engagement with digital technology, simulation, materials and fabrication processes.
