Biography

Chris D. Brown is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Social Impact at Swinburne University of Technology. He researches community development, nonviolent action and social change.

Chris has a PhD in peace and conflict studies and an Honours degree in creative arts. He has extensive experience in the community arts sector, and over the last decade has worked in close partnership with Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre. During this time Chris has co-produced a range of works including 'I Hear You', a verbatim theatre production exploring lived experience of severe and persistent mental illness, and 'Stories of Hope and Migration', a documentary theatre production exploring Indigenous perpectives on the refugee debate in Australia. 

Chris' work on peace, nonviolence and militarism has been published in Global Change, Peace and Security, Peace Review, Cosmopolitan Civil Societies, New Community Quarterly and the Journal for Peacebuilding and Development
