Anat (BA, Post Grad Dip, DipEd, PhD) is a Lecturer in Education at Swinburne University. Her doctoral research focused on metacognition and writing in Hebrew as a second language. This work was completed with excellent and exceptional merit. Anat was a recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) and a recipient of the 2013 Faculty Research Award (Monash University). The contribution to the field has identified the nature of metacognition as conceptual change, features of metacognitive pedagogies and found individual factors and coping strategies that have impacted students’ learning experiences. These were found to be particularly relevant in helping students deal with the stresses of examination and performance expectation. Anat is building her research trajectory in metacognition and consciousness, educational psychology and pre-service teachers anxiety, as evidenced in her role as a Chief Investigator in projects such as an ‘Teaching and learning Mathematics at the time of the LANTITE: an investigation into pre-service teachers' attitudes, beliefs and self-efficacy’ (REC 2017/003). As a qualitative researcher, her passion for voice and digging deeper into the understanding of the teaching profession is evident in collaborations with schools such as Trinity Grammar and in her work with the Centre for Educational Research, Israel. Prior to working at Swinburne University, Anat has worked in industry and with various tertiary and secondary educational settings and brings to her research work a deep understanding and knowledge of the teaching profession. She has held leadership positions within schools (Head of LOTE, Head of Learning and Teaching) and within the education sector the VCAA (Chief Assessor, Specialist Vetter) that have equipped her with relevant industry knowledge. Anat gained further understanding on research into teachers’ beliefs supervising two minor theses in Education to successful completion at Victoria University. Anat is fully registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and has current National Police History Check (NPHC).
