Imaging the brain networks underlying anaesthesia
Our research has shown evidence for a common parietal brain network being involved in anaesthetic-induced reductions in consciousness for different anaesthetics.
To gain more certainty we need to study the effects of different anaesthetics on the same individuals. Help us to achieve this through the study of xenon and nitrous oxide using electromagnetic brain imaging and network analysis methods.
This project will help us understand why anaesthesia causes loss of consciousness and contribute to knowledge regarding the neural correlates of consciousness.
