Novel hydrogels for medical applications

A joint project with the University of Wollongong.

A collaborative team at Swinburne and the University of Wollongong are developing innovative hydrogel materials for use in contraceptive, radio-oncology and surgical applications.

The hydrogel technology provides a means to develop material that possesses improved properties suitable for interfacing with human tissue. The team developing the Geldom technology involves academics working together in the areas of design, manufacturing, health and medical regulations. In addition, several industry partners including IDE group, Enersol and Burnet Institute consult on the project.

This project has been funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
