You may be eligible to access financial assistance in the form of  Swinburne scholarships. These can cover some of the costs of your accommodation at the university. 

Residential scholarships are available for full-time students. We assess applicants on academic merit, leadership qualities and financial circumstances. 

Who can apply: any full-time student who will live in student residences, at the Hawthorn campus, for the whole academic year.
Value: $1,000 reduction of ordinary costs
Number of scholarships available: 20

Applications close: March (refer to application document for exact date)

We have a fund to help students with a one-off bond payment if they are experiencing financial difficulty and have been approved as on-campus resident.

Who can apply: any full-time student approved to live in student residences at the Hawthorn campus for the whole academic year.
Value: exemption from payment of bond for one (1) year
Number of scholarships available: discretionary, awarded on a competitive basis

Other scholarships

Other scholarships exist that may include a financial component you can use towards your accommodation and housing expenses while studying at Swinburne. 

If you apply for, and are awarded, another type of Swinburne scholarship, we may allocate you an on-campus place provided the scholarship can be used towards accommodation costs. 

Swinburne Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship recipients are guaranteed a place in Swinburne’s Student Residences, providing they complete an accommodation application prior to the second week of January (Monday 9 January for 2023 applicants).
