Stay tuned for updates on the 2020 program.

The Pre-Accelerator Program is a 5-week program designed to help founders take an idea or early-stage startup to the next level by testing their product to see if there is a viable market. Learn about marketing, legal, fundraising and much more!

A 12-week program aimed at accelerating Swinburne startups, the Accelerator offers a range of masterclasses and workshops. We focus on helping companies become venture-ready with high quality mentoring, customized training and a significant non-diluting grant. Companies are generally expected to have an MVP and some demonstration of customers.

Our hackathons embody the spirit of the Innovation Precinct, bringing together a diverse range of people to solve complex problems. They’re open to both the Swinburne community and industry professionals and run for one or more days. The hackathons are generally led by the Design Factory Melbourne.

Women in Innovation

Join us for a range of networking events and meet like-minded women from across industries in the innovation space. Watch the event page for upcoming events.

Startup Lean Canvas Workshop

Discover the Swinburne startup ecosystem. Learn how to take your idea to market, and adopt the tools and processes needed to efficiently and cost-effectively test and develop your business. This is an essential introduction to lean-thinking, representing a launchpad for our other programs.

Venture Cup

An annual pitching competition, Venture Cup is open to current Swinburne students, staff and alumni. Shortlisted teams receive coaching and then pitch their business idea to a panel of judges for the chance to win seed funding. Applicants are encouraged to attend a lean canvas workshop and the pre-accelerator program.

Open Mic Nights

Open mic nights are casual pitch events where students, staff, alumni and business leaders share their latest ideas. They’re a great opportunity to meet entrepreneurially-minded people who may have the skills and experience to support your business idea.

Masterclasses are a chance to deep dive into a topic, such as fundraising, startup storytelling, marketing and more, and hear from an expert in their field. These run throughout the year and are open to all.

Innovation Fellows program

Got an idea? Need time to innovate? Our Innovation Fellows program supports Swinburne researchers in developing an idea and engaging with the innovation ecosystem. The Fellowship gives you one-day a week to develop an idea into a marketable product or service. It is desirable but not essential that the idea is based on a research outcome.

The program is funded by the three Swinburne Faculties, so a demonstrated link to one (or more) faculties is essential. Get in touch with us to find out more.

The young man in the middle wears a grey t-shirt and is smiling at the camera. The young man on the right wears a dark jumper, he is also smiling and folding his arms.
