About the speaker

Jefferson Harcourt

Jefferson is committed to commercialising Australian research and keeping the benefits within Australia.

He also sits on several government innovation advisory panels, such as the National Health and the Medical Research Committee. Testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, Jefferson started his first business at the age of 16.

In 1998, Jefferson founded the Grey Innovation Group - a leading technology commercialisation company that is dedicated to unlocking the most promising research and developing technology to protect people and the planet. This 20+ year journey began by providing research and development consulting services.

Today, Grey Innovation has refined its business model to create its own start-up companies. Active in the healthcare, environmental technology, and defence sectors, Grey Innovation operates a scalable platform that unlocks the best intellectual property from universities and research institutes to fast-track its commercial success.

Grey Innovation also operates several high-tech production facilities and works on a wide portfolio of businesses, from growing seaweed in labs to helping children live with autism.

In 2021, Jefferson launched Grey Innovation Ventures - a venture fund aimed at accelerating the commercialisation of Australian research.
