Science Workshops

Join our PrimeSCI! palaeontologists and examine our special fossil collection. Make casts of real fossils and discover what we can learn from ancient bones, teeth and claws. 

(Prep - Grade 2; Grade 3 - 4; Grade 5 - 6)

What is DNA? What does it look like? Become a molecular biologist and unravel the info found in DNA. Compare different DNA, construct your own nucleotide and extract DNA from fruits. 

(Grade 3 - 4; Grade 5 - 6; Years 7 - 8)

A rainbow of colour chemistry experiments for you to investigate. Highlights the skills of questioning and testing scientific ideas.

(Kinder; Prep - Grade 1; Grade 1 - 2)

Why does it ooze, plop and stretch? Create our favourite slimes in the lab and compare their properties.

(Prep - Grade 1; Grade 2 - 3; Grade 3 - 4)

Workshop details

Enrolment fee

  • $24.50 per child for each 1 hour workshop (plus $0.50 Trybooking Fee).

Please note

  • Children must be booked into their correct school year level only.
  • Children attending multiple sessions must be supervised by a parent/guardian during break times.

COVID safety

All Swinburne workshops will be held in accordance with Victorian government COVID regulations. The wearing of masks is suggested. Parents and siblings will be encouraged to wait outside the building for the duration of the workshops. 

Full refunds will be given to those unable to attend due to COVID symptoms, awaiting test results or positive COVID cases in their households.
