Presented by Ethics, Integrity and Biosafety

Research involving children (from babies to young people under the age of 18) is important for many reasons but, as children are inherently more vulnerable than adults, they require additional protection. There are several issues such as consent that must be considered when preparing an application for ethical approval. This session is designed to give you practical advice to ensure that the appropriate guidelines are considered when preparing an application and you will hear from experienced researchers about how they go about conducting research involving children.

The session will have a panel:

  • Prof Paula Swatman, SUHREC Chair
  • Dr Jessica Balanzategui, Senior Lecturer, Cinema and Screen Studies
  • Professor Monica Thielking, Chair, Department of Psychological Sciences
  • Associate Professor Jordy Kaufman, Centre for Mental Health

Please prepare your questions! There will be time after the presentations for you to pose your questions to the panel.
