Meet the revolutionary researchers informing the next big thing in Australian manufacturing.

Forum i4.0 is the leading online roundtable linking researchers, technologists and entrepreneurs working at the forefront of industrial innovation and consumer participation. Hosted by Swinburne University, with speakers from Australia’s most progressive industrial research institutes and support from the Innovative Manufacturing CRC, the monthly event brings together boundary-pushing researchers united in their desire to help Australian product makers deliver their innovations directly into the hands of tomorrow’s consumers.

Since the forum began in 2019, it has linked researchers, designers and manufacturers in fields as diverse as robotics, smart cities, digital modelling, mass customisation, 3D printing, autonomous vehicles, and consumer psychology. Research partnerships have been born, bridges built with industry, and bright ideas transformed into prototypes. On Thursday 1 July, the 19th Forum i4.0 will stretch its wings the length of the eastern seaboard – with presenters from QUT, UTS, Swinburne, and James Cook University.

As usual, the forum will be followed by our provocative ‘Collaborate’ session – where individuals have an opportunity to share ideas, ask difficult questions, and find partners in other disciplines and institutes.

Can AI write a lesson plan for a new teacher? What about a script for a hit TV show? Can we use it for images, design, and more? This Swinburne-led panel brings together three experts from education, screenwriting, and design to take a closer look at AI-generated outputs and discuss what it can and can’t do in their industries.
