Placed at: Arts Centre Melbourne

I found the Swinburne process to help students land a placement was really good. The recruitment and interview process prepares you well.
I did my industry placement at the Arts Centre Melbourne. I worked on System Center Configuration Manager 2012 – a Microsoft product. I build it for them to use going forward. I learnt a lot along the way. The role involved a lot of research and required me to prepare project plans. At the end of 12 weeks, I deployed the program and tested the build of the server. It was a successful project.
The industry placement helped me learn essential soft skills and understand the Australian work culture. I made a lot of friends in the process and it has given me an opportunity to network well. I play soccer for the company team even now. The project manager has encouraged me to apply for positions that come up in the near future. The best aspect was that they let me work to my best – I wasn’t spoon fed. The company encouraged proactivity.
I believe Swinburne has a good image in terms of employability in the industry. Three of the 19 team members at the company were from Swinburne.
