Daniela | Venezuelan exchange student at Swinburne
“I would say to others considering exchange at Swinburne, you’ll really enjoy it. Swinburne makes it really easy and fun.”
I knew Swinburne was the best option for me. It was my opportunity to improve myself in many ways.
I am studying Biology. I am particularly interested in genetics. I want to specialize in human genetics to find ways to cure many human diseases.
I chose Swinburne because it is one of the best universities in Australia. Swinburne gives me the opportunity to improve my professional skills. I like the professors and the classes; it is easy to learn a lot from it. Recently, I’ve been working on my thesis project at the biotechnology laboratory. I am very happy; everyone is very friendly at the laboratory, making me feel welcome. They are always trying to teach me new techniques. I am really enjoying my time at Swinburne.
I really like the lifestyle on campus. I feel so comfortable that it is almost like home. There are so many different places where you can have fun, sitting on the grass with your friends, or having a coffee at the atrium. And when you need to study the library is the perfect place.
I enjoyed the Swinmates club. It gave me the opportunity to make new friends and to have a lot of fun.
I love everything about Melbourne. You can do whatever you feel like, from going to St Kilda for a really good beach day, to going to a hike and enjoy nature. My favourite thing to do in the city is to go to Federation Square and walk around during the night. It looks so beautiful with all the building lights and the river.
During the spring break I went to Alice Springs and drove to Darwin. That trip was really amazing. I also went to Wilsons Promontory, Tasmania and Sydney. All those places were really wonderful, but I think my favourite place in Australia is Melbourne. Melbourne feels like home.
I would say to others considering exchange at Swinburne, you’ll really enjoy it. Swinburne makes it really easy and fun.
