This prestigious internship program will involve a six-week internship in an organisation related to your field of study in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The program will include a variety of additional empowering events focused on exposing you to topics relevant to women in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field.

  • Academic credit: Professional Internship Unit Extended 25CP
  • Cost: A$3,435
  • Funding: 15 x A$3,000 Australian Government New Colombo Plan Grants available to Australian undergraduate students (with no citizenship or residency rights to Malaysia), who have not previously received an NCP short-term grant

Swinburne STEM Fields

  • Engineering (NOT Biomedical or Telecommunications)
  • Science (NOT Applied Mathematics, Biochemistry or Physics)
  • IT and Computer Science (all majors)
  • Business Information Systems (all majors)
  • Health Science (ONLY Health Promotion, Nutrition and Psychology)
  • Architectural and Industrial Design (Architecture, Interior Architecture and Industrial Design) 

* Note: Some majors are difficult to source internships for. TGS can provide advice and guidance, but internships are not guaranteed.

Application deadline

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with places (and scholarship if applicable) allocated to the first students to complete a full application and meet eligibility criteria.

  • Applications open: 1 November 2019
  • Final deadline for applications: 31 March 2020 (if places remaining)

Eligible students

  • Female students
  • Be studying an undergraduate STEM course
  • Completed at least 150CP (12 units)
  • Have an average weighted mark of at least 60%
  • Have available space in your course for the applicable academic unit (domestic students may be able overload their degree)
