Swinburne have partnered with Pagoda Projects offer a paid placement program in Taipei, Taiwan. Pagoda Projects will source a placement tailored to your area of study with a company in Taipei. They will also assist you with getting your visa, finding accommodation, and will be on call 24/7 in Taiwan to support you throughout the program.

Dates

  • Arrival in Taipei: Friday 31 January 2020
  • First 6-Month Placement Commences: Tuesday 4 February 2020
  • First 6-Month Placement Ends: Friday 24 July 2020
  • Second 6-Month Placement Commences (if applicable): Monday 3 August 2020
  • Second 6-Month Placement Ends (if applicable): Friday 5 February 2021

Duration

6 or 12 month placement

  • Visa regulations in Taiwan only allow students to hold a placement for a maximum of 6 months in one company. 
  • For a 12 month placement you will need a placement at 2 different organisations.

Eligible Students

  • Be a local or international undergraduate student enrolled in a standard three- or four-year degree program (on-campus- SOL and OUA students are not eligible)
  • Have a weighted course average of 60.0% or higher
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 units/150 credit points in your degree
  • Have a minimum of 3 units/37.5 credit points remaining at the completion of the placement.

Cost

$2,695 AUD
Placements will receive a salary of approximately $900 AUD per month

Funding

5 x $5,000 Australian Government New Colombo Plan Grants available to Australian students (with no citizenship or residency rights to Taiwan), who have not previously received an NCP semester-length grant

 

Application Deadline

  • Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with places (and scholarship if applicable) allocated to the first students to complete a full application and meet eligibility criteria
  • Applications open: 1 October
  • Final deadline for applications: 30 November 2019 (if places remaining)
