The two week study tour will involve visiting some 7 to 8 cities in 6 countries across continental Europe. Much of our interest will be in understanding the role played by the European Union which explains why will spend 2 days in Brussels. We will start the tour in Prague, which besides being a beautiful city is one of the dynamic cities of Eastern Europe.
As we gradually move across westwards, we visit Berlin (now capital of Germany), Brussels, Paris, Luxembourg, Frankfurt and Geneva. There is a possibility of also visiting Milan, Italy. Our meetings will include institutions of the European Union (the Commission, the Parliament, the Council, the Courts), Australian Embassies and Consulates, the OECD, and other important Australia related institutions in Europe.
The tour will provide a concrete understanding of the issues affecting the European Union and how Australia relates to Europe and the European Union. The two week tour will involve some 15 meetings as well as some free time to explore the separate countries being visited.
