Europe by Design

Location: Germany, Switzerland and Italy

Duration: Three weeks
Eligible students: 3D design students in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year
Cost: Approximately $5000 plus flights

This year’s Europe by Design study tour will travel to Germany, Switzerland & Italy. It will include lengthy stays in Berlin & Milan, several days in Basel, as well as train trips through the Swiss Alps and to smaller cities in Germany & Italy.

This tour will run late November to mid-December 2018 and is specifically for Industrial Designers, Interior Architects & Product Design Engineers. It will involve an urban design project in Berlin, as well as numerous German and Italian visits to design agencies, factories and cultural sites.

So, if this one-off, not-to-be-missed opportunity appeals to you, start saving and register your interest now. There are only 10 places available and we're seeking ambitious and talented applicants.

This study tour is a credit-bearing unit and is open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students. Preference will be given to students closer to the end of their degree. Attend an information session to learn more.


Payment includes:

  • curated visits and activities
  • compulsory intercity rail travel
  • tourist cards, museum tickets and local travel expenses
  • shared accommodation
  • breakfast
  • some dinners

Payment does not include:

  • return airfares
  • tuition fees
  • personal spending money
  • lunch and most dinners
  • visa (if required)
  • travel insurance


  • You must pay a deposit of $500 when submitting your application.
  • Additional funds may also be available to eligible students via an OS HELP Loan, please consult with our Study Abroad Office for further information.
