Explore urban design and the relationship between design, strategy and innovation in an Asian context.

Visiting Hong Kong and China, this new study tour aims to extend awareness of Australian innovation, design culture and philosophy as well as heighten the understanding of global conditions that are driving demand for design and innovation. This study tour is open to all postgrad students interested in how design, innovation and creativity are shaping the world today and how that will take us into the future.

You'll gain insights into the design sector through industry visits, lead participatory workshops in a public design studio space, and be part of an exhibition in one of Hong Kong's iconic innovation precincts. The tour will also include sessions about design and innovation in Asia, doing business in a cross-cultural hub, and the cultural, political and regulatory environments across the region.  You’ll learn about multiple operating environments, different approaches to business and process design, and increase your knowledge and competencies related to working in Asia.

There will be opportunities for collaboration with universities in China and Hong Kong, and to leverage existing relationships with trade and commerce organisations. Participants will also be able to engage with entrepreneurs, business and strategy consulting organisations, NGOs, and Swinburne alumni.

By going on this study tour, you can be awarded credit points to your degree.
