Find support if you're an ELICOS student
If you are studying an ELICOS course, there are free services available to help improve your academic writing and English-language skills.
Independent Learning Centre (ILC)
The ILC helps all ELICOS students and some Foundation Year and UniLink students.
Attendance at the ILC is compulsory for five hours of supervised self-study in addition to the compulsory 20 classroom hours per week that all ELICOS students do.
If you wish, you can do up to three hours of your five hour requirement in Blackboard, but you must physically attend the ILC for at least two hours per week during ELICOS course times.
Other students who just want to improve their language skills are welcome to attend.
Resources provided by the ILC to develop learning and research skills include:
- language software
- worksheets, activities and IELTS exam preparation tips
- dictionaries and grammar references
- newspapers, magazines and journals
- weekly workshops.
You can also register for workshops, classes and tutorials at the ILC (Hawthorn campus).
Location: TD Building, Level 1, Room TD140,
Opening hours: 8.30am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, during ELICOS course times
