Swinburne loans

If you’re a full-time student and need help paying for study materials, you may be able to get a small student loan through Swinburne.

These loans that are interest-free if you repay them on time.

You can use these loans to pay for study materials like textbooks or a computer. You can't use them to pay your course tuition fees, or ordinary ongoing costs like rent and bills.

How to apply

Book a free appointment with the financial adviser at your campus. In your appointment, you can discuss why you need the loan, and find out more about how the loans work.

Loans available

Special Assistance Program loans – up to $1500

  • For local undergraduate, postgraduate and UniLink students who are enrolled full time.
  • You will need a guarantor for amounts over $500.
  • To be repaid within 12 months.

Student Aid loans – up to $500

  • Only for local vocational education (formerly TAFE) students who are enrolled full time.
  • To be repaid within six months.

International Emergency Student Loan – up to $500

  • Only for international students who are enrolled full time.
  • To be repaid within six months.

Conditions

Penalties apply if you don't repay your loan in the agreed period. These may include late fees and inability to access your results, sit exams or graduate.

First-year students require a guarantor for loans of any amount.
